Meet Bill & Cindy Brandom

For Orange Park Acres residents, Bill & Cindy Brandom(“Babu & LuLu”), life is all about faith, family, and leaving a legacy of giving.

Bill & Cindy moved to California from the Midwest. Bill was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. As a child he aspired to be a doctor or a rockstar. Neither of those came to fruition but he is proud to have worked in the music industry for many years. Bill attended college in the Midwest where he learned extensive piano knowledge including how to tune, rebuild and refinish pianos. These skills led him to a wonderful 31-year career with the Yamaha Corporation as both a National Piano Service Manager and Marketing Manager. During this time Bill had the opportunity to work with many amazing classical, jazz and rock pianists, including Elton John, Billy Joel, Bob James, and Chick Corea.

Cindy grew up on a farm in South Dakota where she was taught about faith, farming, cooking, amongst other skills. She attended nursing school at St. Luke’s Nursing School in Sioux City, Iowa and enjoyed a career as a Registered Nurse working in the areas of Intensive and Coronary Care. Her early dreams included traveling the United States and incorporating her gifts and talents, abroad. A dream came alive as the couple has now traveled, serving Third world countries and involving themselves deeply in charity work.

After raising their three children, The Brandoms focused on a path of giving back. Bill and Cindy became very involved with Hope4Kids International. This is a faith-based organization that does tremendous work helping children around the world. They are both currentambassadors and board members with Hope4Kids and
have completed nearly 40 trips with Hope4Kids to Uganda, Kenya, Nairobi, Namibia, the Philippines, Romania, Cuba, India, and Bangladesh. Bill and Cindy have directly helped to bring clean water to hundreds of thousands of people by funding many safe, clean, deep-water wells in Uganda, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, and the Philippines. In addition, they currently support nearly 40 children around the world, by providing for children suffering from extreme poverty and helping kids born with cleft lips and cleft palates. For Bill and Cindy, words cannot express how it feels to see the kids thrive after surgery. To see them to be able to breathe better, to speak, to eat, and to live lives with confidence, is incredible.

Beyond charity work, Bill is a passionate Southern Style BBQ enthusiast who has received training from several of the top BBQ experts in the United States. Cindy teaches Women’s Bible study, enjoys bowling, and working in her vegetable and flower garden. She loves her family more than life itself! Together, Bill and Cindy have overcome, one day at a time, so many difficult struggles with family addiction and thankfully, they remain hopeful. Today because of their strong foundation of Hope and Faith, they have persevered through these life struggles. Their deepest desire is to give to their children and grandchildren a bright future (according to Jeremiah 29:11). They are now raising two of their grandsons, 8-year old Noah and 6-year old Jackie, who attend SALEM Lutheran School in Orange Park Acres. They have been with them for more than two years and will be adopting Noah and Jackie in the next few months.

They moved to California in 1983 where they spent many years in Yorba Linda and Placentia while raising their three children. As the family grew and welcomed 8 grandchildren, the need for more space became apparent. Bill and Cindy found the perfect home and fell in love with Orange Park Acres. They truly enjoy the lifestyle and friendly down to earth people here in the neighborhood. As proud OPA residents for the past four years, they are always eager to meet new residents of this beautiful community.

At 68 and 69 years old, the busy grandparents are cherishing the Christian values and strong ethics their own parents instilled in them. They are striving to pass down these traits to their grandchildren. In Bill’s own words, “If we are able to pass down a legacy of helping others, if our grandchildren learn the importance of this, I would be able to consider that a job well done.”

It has been such an honor getting to know Bill’s humble heart & Cindy’s selfless soul. It really is a beautiful thing, to see their love for God, love for people and to make a difference. Here at Horse & Home Real Estate, we are honored to spotlight the wonderful residents of our community, such as The Brandom Family.
